Kind, welcoming and helpful host in Ernesto. Attentive and informative, making sure that you were enjoying your stay, being very patient with my terrible Italian, suggesting places to go and things to see and even taking time to explain the humble beginnings of the hotel and his family’s involvement. Getting to the hotel very straight forward, despite being opposite the main ‘hubs’ of the island, owing to the excellent public transport. Room very comfortable with all of the basic amenities, cleaned to a high standard every morning whilst you dine on the excellent breakfast in the beautiful gardens. My visit was the end of April/beginning of May, so for the majority of my stay it felt like I was the only guest! Maronti Beach on the south side of the island felt similarly deserted. This is no criticism, it was absolutely perfect for me but worth mentioning for other guests that may want more hustle and bustle or for other solo travellers who may feel uncomfortable. I won’t put it in the negatives because it’s absolutely understandable, but dinner wasn’t served for the duration of my stay (one week). A slight disappointment as I had heard very good things about the dinners but, as explained by Ernesto, servings don’t start until higher season when it can be justified. To clarify, the booking was for B & B, so I can’t complain. I will definitely return to experience the food. There are plenty of excellent food options a very short walk from the hotel, along the beach front, so nothing lost ultimately. Overall, I can’t recommend this hotel enough. Perfect for my first visit to this amazing part of the Word, one I hope to return to.

we had booked directly on the hotel website, but when showing up there were no rooms for us. they gave us instead appartment (which were the employees rooms, filled with cleaning chemicals) and didnt offer refusion or other rooms at other hotels (and had not told in advance). we found our self another hotel - but had to fight to get our money back from manager. dont go there, or if you do - dont use their own website, as you do not have booking.com or hotels.com to help you

We spent three days here enjoying the beach in August and loved it. We debated between Hotel Maronti and fancier places on Ischia, as well as places on Capri and along the Amalfi Coast. We ended up choosing Hotel Maronti because it was so close to one of the most highly rated beaches and we were not disappointed. In fact, we made friends with a family that comes every year from the North of Italy for that exact reason. * Location: While not right on the beach, Hotel Maronti is very close, with the spots right on the beach being small restaurants. The road is above and behind all of the hotels and restaurants. * Beach: The beach was sandy. The water clear and calm for swimming and playing. There were families and groups of friends and couples, almost all Italian. * Beach Chairs: We rented two chairs with an umbrella for 18 euro about 5 minutes from the hotel at “Belmare”. There was a nice man there who will take your name and reserve you a spot if you ask. We had front row every day. * Water Activities: Next to our Belmare beach chairs there was a man renting paddle boats with slides for 10 EU per hour which our kids loved. * Lunch: There are many small beach front restaurants. Our favorite was Mirage in front of the hotel. * Dinner: Our favorite restaurant was “Paradise” which is up the winding road. It cost 10 Euro to take a Taxi up and we also once took the bus and asked the driver to stop. It was a pleasant walk back down. The restaurant had world class views over the bay. The mussels, in particular, were amazing. On the weekend in August, the patio was full and the owner recommended we reserve. * Breakfast: Breakfast was outside on the hotel patio. We most enjoyed the fresh fruit. * Service: The owner was our main interface and was attentive and welcoming. * Room: Our room was clean and slept 4 comfortably. We were concerned the room might be hot, but we slept fine in the middle of August with the fan. * Transportation: We took the ferry from Naples Molo Beverello to Ischia Port. Across the street on Ischia we took the air-conditioned #5 bus to Maronti. It seems to come about every 20 minutes and took about half an hour direct to the Maronti for a couple euro. It’s mostly a narrow winding road over the top of the island and down the other side and it’s doubtful a taxi would have been much faster. The bus ends at Maronti and it’s about a five-minute walk to the hotel along the beach boardwalk.

We stayed at this hotel for the last 9 days of our mini tour of Italy. It is small and simple, but such a friendly, heavenly place. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Ernesto and his family. Our rooms were basic, but had lovely views of the sea. We had a fan which kept it reasonably cool at night. Breakfasts were good with homemade pastries, jams and freshly picked figs. We had dinner a few times there, which although the dining room sadly isn't outside, the food is made with love and we got to try some delicious local dishes that we might not have chosen had we had a choice. The location on the island is heavenly, moments from the beach. If it's peace and beauty you're looking for then this is the place to be. Much busier on the other side of the island which is easy to get to by bus. Lots of restaurants and bars on this (the best) end of Maronti beach. Highly recommend this place to anyone. Ernesto is a legendary host.

We booked the hotel because of the location just 30 m from the beach. First night we got the worst room I have ever experienced in a hotel. It was really really bad but from second night and on we were given a bigger room. There is no air-conditioning in this hotel. Breakfast was below average but the staff is very professional and very very friendly. I asked for scrambled eggs, that is not standard on the breakfast, and they made this to me every morning. Wi-Fi only available in the lobby and outside. Thank you guys for making our vacation as good as you could possibly do.

Hotel is in perfect location - in the calm small town and only a 1 minute of walking from beach. I also loved the look and that everything therewas clean. There is also a very nice garden, with lot of spots to relax and with a jacuzzi. Amazing were the breakfasts on the terras with a beautiful view on the sea. I also liked a lot the personal, especially Ernesto - such a kind gentleman :) On the other hand the bad thing was that there is no route to hotel, you must walk along the beach on the small pavement - quite uncomfortable with 3 suitcases... Also not all the rooms have view of the sea, and they are a bit small.

We went to this hotel as a group and where so happy - everything was perfect. Excellent and autentic Italian food, Italian friendliness which made us feel almost like family members. A sparkling clean room. The sea can be reachen within 2 minutes and on the beach you find plenty of little restaurants for a snack and a lovely drink. Discover Ischia on a trip with a cab, not really expensive but worth the sights. Not to forget, the Hotel has its own steam bath and 2 pools with thermal warm and hot water which does a lot of good to muscles and bones.

You will never want to leave this perfect haven. Two weeks simply isn't enough. Family owned hotel for generations and professionally run by all its members: father, sons and daughters whom all make you feel like one of their own and take a genuine interest in making your stay memorable. Located on one of the nicest beaches of the island, there is no other place you will wish to return to after having explored the island's many wonders, historical sites, thermal waters, swimming or snorkeling in the sea 50 meters from your room. Not to mention the delicious and fresh home cooked meals whether for lunch or supper awaiting you. The hotel grounds also need to be spoken of as they are a delight for the eyes and can soothe any stressed out soul who seeks solace from their hectic lives. Grazie famiglia Mattera, ci mancate tantissimo!
