I love Beer in Devon and love a glass of beer as well. But trying to get served in the Anchor was another matter. I was planning to buy dinner with my family but asked to wait a short while. Seemed like a good idea to buy a drink for the family. It was not busy but the young man... More

We are fast bevoming regular stayers here in Beer. The room was comfortable and recently re decorated the staff were friendly and helpful. The ordering system is to our minds simple and straightforward you can either eat inthe bar or the restaurant. The breakfasts are very filling and kept us going until supper time. The evening food offers a good... More

The Anchor Inn at Beer is a great place to stay for a weekend. We really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere that has been created by the very efficient team, headed up by Jan, Phil and Chelsea. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Although we booked our break through Old English Inns, the Anchor manages to... More

We had a good meal here on arriving on Friday evening, then the next day I was not feeling too well, so as it was opposite our accommodation, we again had an evening meal there. Very friendly staff and just a nice atmosphere in the place. More

We loved beer, a wonderful Devon, fishing village, having walked around all morning, lunch was on the cards, so we popped into the Anchor Inn, A rather confusing ordering system, for food and drink, but finally placed and order, The staff were friendly and the food OK but certainly not worth the money £8.00 for a baguette, £6.50 for a... Set in the heart of the village, perched on the cliff the Anchor Inn is a magical place. The beer garden overlooks the sea and and nothing can beat their fresh crab sandwiches. The service both in the restaurant, bars and garden is really exceptional even when the inn is bursting to capacity. Children are very welcome and dogs are... More

We stayed in the Anchor Inn, Beer over the Easter period and had a really great time. The hosts, Mr and Mrs Hills (Phil and Jan) are so professional, polite, helpful and friendly and it filters down to all the staff. We have stayed here several times and it just gets better. The fresh fish, cod, hake and John Dory... More

The greatest regret from my recent trip to England was that I didn't stay in Beer and in the Anchor Inn a bit longer than the one night I was there. There exists this notion of old English pubs as warm, comfortable and welcoming oases on dark and stormy nights. The reality unfortunately is that too often English pubs are... More

We booked late - so we only able to get the last available room (number 2) which wasn't en-suite, but had it's own bathroom just across the corridor, which didn't prove to be a task at all. Small room, but with a lovely view of the bay. Free WiFi internet access, Great friendly staff (altho the manager appeared 'officious' and... More

The hotel's position, and the views, are spectacular. The village of Beer is vibrant, quaint and endearing, all at the same time! The ensuite room was spacious, immaculate, and comfortable. The bar was welcoming, well stocked and friendly. We will definitely revisit this wonderful place. The only negative comments that I would make would be that the restaurant service on... More
