I fully agree with the other reviews (i.e. regards views, location, red squirrels, weather, peace and tranquility, food, fascinating history of the hotel and the area etc.) I would like to add a comment about the attitude and friendliness of all the staff. We were made to feel like welcome guests, not just paying customers. When they had time, everyone... More

just got back from a 2 night stay at this great hotel. A superb location, the room was fantastic, staff polite and helpful and the food was wonderful. Red squirrels on the patio, golden eagles 2 miles down the road and views to die for. If you like a bit of peace and quiet with a touch of the outdoors... More

The weather can change in minutes at this time of year and was never so true at Haweswater. The wind blew on our arrival night and without double glazing, the original metal windows, meant the Haweswater was a bit draughty. However the next day dawned sunny and bright, and the Red Squirrels and many birds came visiting for breakfast - the... More

Spent two nights over Bank Holiday weekend at this isolated but very tranquil hotel. We might have been in the 30s or 40s, with the art deco style furnishings. The hotel overlooks the Haweswater reservoir, which covers a secret - a village which was sacrificed for the sake of fresh water for the area. The history is quite fascinating. The... More

Great Food... Great Wildlife......Great Walking.....Great Hotel with really friendly team of staff. Fantastic hideaway to get away from it all. You wouldn't believe you were only 20 minutes from the M6. Go and enjoy a great break.

Spent two nights at the Haweswater Hotel staying in the 'Wainwright' room which is on the side of the building facing the head of the lake. There are very few hotels in the UK with as scenic a location as this, overlooking the lake and it is the only building in the valley once you pass the dam at the... More

This hotel really helps you escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Isolated from any distractions it offers comfort, good food, beautiful location and utter peace. The hotel has history and character, and although the rooms are a little tired, the location more than compensates, and the restaurant offers good food, and good healthy portions. Well worth a return... More
