An oasis on SI's main road south. Grant and Anne were fantastic friendly hosts. Food straight from their garden, including olives and a variety of citrus fruits - it may be on the wild Kaikoura coast but it's got a climate all it's own! This was not a planned stay for me but I'll definitely be going back. More

Coastal Lodge is a great stay! The ocean view is not only beautiful, but very relaxing! You can see it from both their deck and from the inside of their beautiful home. The view also includes The Store, a well-known restaurant and its picturesque landscaping right across the street. The landscaping in Anne and Grant’s yard is awesome, too—nice yard... More

We arrived to a very warm welcome and were delighted with our spacious room and ensuite. We wanted to have dinner at the reknowned resturant located across the road called "The Store" which our hosts kindly booked for us, while we took a drive to Blenheim. After Dinner we enjoyed a couple of choice wines and excellent conversation with our... More

We stayed with Grant and Anne during our way through the South Island. Unfortunately we could only stay for one night but we had a super time and wished we could have stayed longer. We had such a warm welcome and the house and rooms are absolutely first class as was the breakfast! The location is stunning and we had... More

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was great with extra beds provided for our two girls. The owners really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable; friendly, easy to chat to, helpful - we never felt like they were overly fussy or intrusive, just the right balance. We have stayed at Coastal Lodge 3 years in... More

Kaikoura was a mass of No Vacancy signs, well i had guessed due to the Seafest festival that it would be and so searched the internet for accommodation within 20 or 30 Km's of kaikoura. We weren't interested in the Festival, instead we were interested in a place to sleep and eat, you see we were planing a very impromptu... More

I really enjoyed the hospitality; laughs and great meals. I look forward to another cycle trip in the next year or so. Coastal Lodge is the only rest stop for cyclists on the main road between Blenheim and Kaikoura, NZ. I really enjoyed Anne's sight seeing drive up the back valley and hills where I got some great photos. More

We stayed at this B & B while on our South Island holiday. My hubby had small medical emergency the day before and needed somewhere to recoup for a couple of days and the Coastal Lodge by the main highway half way between the ferry and the whale watching was ideal. Nice restaurant right opposite. Warm, welcoming and spotlessly clean,... More

We stayed with Anne and Grant while my husband was hunting in nearby Remuera. Each night, regardless of the hour Eldon returned from the hunt, they had a delicious hot meal for us. Even when dinner started at after 10:00 pm, breakfast was waiting at 6:00 am so that he could catch the early morning hunt. We thorougly enjoyed a... More
