We visited Koh Lipe during chinese new year and we had heard about problems with finding accomodation. When we arrived it was either a deluxe room here or a tent on the beach. At 2,900 baht per room we had high expectations and this fell very short. It had ac and hot water and a TV but no fridge. The bathroom was horrid, all rusty. The bed was a thin foam 'matress' on a solid wooden base, not particually comfortable. The view towards the sea was good but compared to what you'd get for this price in the rest of thailand you will be disapointed. The other rooms are cheaper but so small you can barely fit the bed in so still very poor value. Koh Lipe is a stunning island where demand is outstripping supply. I am glad we went as I think it is the most beautiful island I have ever seen and there is some accomodation of a much better stanard for I believe around the same price. Try and book ahead.
