At first glance this place is very impressive, just the kind of cosy, quaint accomodation we were looking for. The building itself was full of character and the room finished to a good standard which well suited our purpose of a quiet weekend away. Staff were prompt to greet us with a polite welcome ...but it ended there with a... More

This is the kind of building that makes your jaw drop as soon as you enter. Fabulous character, excellent accomodation, very clean and tidy, great food and really friendly and helpful staff. 20 minutes from Bath (where I was working) I found staying at The George such an experience that I booked for another night just to soak up a... Over the last 4 or five years we have stayed at the George 5 times and this was alast and most disappointing visit. We have been in all of the four poster rooms and the experience is always great. Its such an amazing building, a real treasure and I always feel lucky to be staying there. On this stay we... More

Stayed at this amazing 700 year old inn for 1 night. Amazing, wow, wow, wow! Four poster bed wonderful setting and the friendliest of staff. We will be back. Ate in the restaurant where our Tastecard was accepted. Super meal although limited menu. Realised we could have ordered from a more varied bar menu but the quality of the food was... More

We stayed in the Monmouth room, this was very spacious but to make a hot drink at night was very awkward as there is no light over the tea/coffee tray you had to turn the telivision round to shine light over the area so you could see what you are doing. The soap tray in the shower was hanging off the... More

Only stayed for one night but very enjoyable. Plus points: lovely situation, friendly and welcoming staff, lovely character room, tasty food. Minus points:bedroom rather dark(more lighting at window end of room would be a bonus),food in restaurant expensive(better value in bar).Could hear the conversation from adjoining room late at night !!!! This was my kind of place. I felt it from the moment I drove up and parked. My expectations were modest, as I'd not even heard of The George until I began planning my trip and located Phillip St. Norton as a picturesque village well-located for our itinerary. We were delighted by the rustic, historic, atmosphere-oozing exterior, interiors, and courtyards.... More
