Balcamara Mains is located in the most idyllic spot that you could imagine. It is right on the edge of Loch Alsh and is surrounded by tall trees and bush land. The waters of the loch stretch before you until they seem to touch the mountains beyond. The views are totally breathtaking especially if you are as lucky as we... More

The guest house is right on the loch, making for a very beautiful view out of our room. Breakfast was to die for, the smoked salmon especially. Room v.clean. Free wifi came in very handy as there was no mobile signal. Staff were really welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. In the evenings we went into Kyle and Dornie... More

We stayed 2 nights at this scenic guesthouse. The view from our room was beyond beautiful looking on the water which constantly changed as the weather rolled by, including a beautiful rainbow. Comfortable room and relaxed atmosphere, breakfast a 10, on a closed terrace with also the view of the sea. Behind the buildings a mystical forest inviting hikes. All... More

Stayed just the one night as we were on a cycling tour of the Highlands and Syke. Great place to stay with good rooms, amazing views and the best breakfast of our tour. Will definitely return, just to have the breakfast again (and again) Check out the photos the moon over the water was amazing.

We wanted to explore Skye for th first time and chose Balmacara Mains as most of the top rated B&Bs on Skye were already booked. A good decision as booking somewhere on Skye would have added between 1/2hr and 1 hr to what was already a long drive from the Lakes. This is a business, not a homely B&B, but... More

We spent one night in Balmacara Mains in May. Accommodation options with good reviews were a bit sparse so I was happy when we found this place. We got the last room-room 7 the luxury double. The guesthouse has a lovely setting looking out over Loch Alsh to Skye. Unfortunately our room looked out to the back so we only... More

The Guesthouse is situated on the shore of Loch Alsh in a beautiful, peaceful and quiet location. The room was adequate with a comfortable bed but why only one chair? There were two Velux widows that when standing provided a view of the loch. No bath but there was a very large shower cabinet. There is a TV with Free... More

Stayed here in Easter break Apr 2013. Spotless room, crisp white linen, excellent bathroom. The view from the room was fantastic over the loch. As it was located just down a wee road, away from the hustle and bustle, it was such a quiet and peaceful location. A fantastic stony beach to have a stroll on after our journey to... More

Just spent 3 wonderful days at balmacara mains with my fiance. Balmaca Mains is in a fantastic setting with stunning views and the room was exceptinally comfortable. The stay was made even more enjoyable by the onsite manager Norman who was so endearing and turned out to be such a character with a great knowledge of the local area. His... More
