Run by a British couple this old building is beautiful restored and the rooms are spacious. Beds are good, coffee and tea making facilities in the room, a big plus. Shower was not working completely (power shower with too low water pressuere does not work). Free wifi in the lounge with comformtable sofa's, games, music and some very old magazines... More

We found this one on the internet and where only looking for a stop over but La Vielle Cure is much more. Steve and Angie are great hosts and the house is lovely. We had an evening meal and wine which was excellent. Secure parking and a charming town - couple of nice places for a drink. Breakfast was great.... More

Me and my partner have just returned from a weeks holiday staying in the Maison Gabriel. We both had a fantastic time, the accommodation was perfect, the location ideal for days out to Cognac etc and the village had everything we needed. Steve and Angie are fantastic hosts and did everything to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We would... More

The building, the grounds and the rooms are very well decorated, and impeccably clean, a very comfortable bed and nice guest sitting room. However, the shower really can't cope with more than one room/user at a time, the pressure is very low and the water temperature variable. The house is very near the N10, which you can hear all night:... More

Having recently returned from La Vielle Cure, I read with interest the comments made by previous travellers. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at this property. The rooms were very comfortable and the summer kitchen was a real bonus. Our children loved being able to use the pool. The meal we had on our first night was enjoyable although... More

Our business is run by 2 of us. We work as a team, doing what we both do best. 1 front of house and the other back of house. I should, I suppose, take the critisism that is made , as a compliment, as these guests were obviously totally unaware of the many things that go on day to day... More

As a couple with our first baby, we wanted a French holiday where we were self-catering for the flexibility, but still have the chance to "eat out" in the evening without uprooting our baby from his bed. La Vieille Cure offered exactly what we were looking for. Located in the friendly but quiet market town of Couhe, La Vieille Cure... More

This truly is a lovely place, welcoming hosts, finest accommodation and generally a restful place to be. They offer meals in the evening which are lovely or we also bbq'd ourselves and used the Summer kitchen to create our own meals. Generally the best of self catering but with the most lovely continental breakfasts. My girls only drank goats milk... More

This is amazing accommodation with delightful hosts, wonderful food and wine!! Finding a budget airline which flew from Edinburgh into Poitiers and then stumbling across this BB on the internet was one of the luckiest finds we've had regarding holidays and value for money. We had wanted a break from the Scottish rain with a week lying in the sun... More

We never return to anywhere in the world - except La Vieille Cure. The rooms are 5*, the food is excellent and the hosts are great. We originally stayed here in 2005 and, like fine wine, it has improved every time that we have gone back. Originally, it was a stop off to elsewhere and we still kid ourselves that... More

As stop overs go on business trips I wasn't expecting to discover this little haven. I arrived very late at night and Steve was very helpful welcoming me at the gate. Beautifully restored building. Whilst all of the original features have been preserved you are not left wanting for all the usual mod cons.Would like to return on a pleasure... More
