As with many we stayed here the night before the crossing to Laos, and thankfully the staff were great and told us to ignore everything we had read a out getting to the border early etc, they provided a free lift for us to Thai Immigration at 9am, buy 10am we had got visas and were officially in Laos. Great... More

There are some places, in unexpected, secret parts of the world, you arrive to "at coïncidence". Where you plan to stay "one night" and, without knowing exactly how, one week has passed. A wooden house aside the Mekong river where time has stopped. Let you live, and enjoy. You would always find helpful people. You would always catch a smile... More

I only wish that I could rate this place higher than 5 out of 5 - it would get it and then some. I arrived here very sick from Laos, ending up in hospital. The wonderful owners Maleewan and Don took charge of everything which included visiting me every day in hospital, bringing food for me, advancing me cash when I... Excellent owners, kind and informative. One of them speaks perfect English and knows more about the region than most history teachers. The food was good and the view from the place is super. Just make sure you have a room with a mosquito net (or bring one with you) - its right on the Mekong along with bugs and what... More

I was only here for one night on my way to Laos but Maleewan & Don made me feel so welcome, gave me great advice & their service was lovely, they even dropped me off at the immigration & introduced me to a Laos guide the next morning :) I stayed in one of the dorm rooms & had 4... More

It was pitch back when I arrived in Chiang Khong but the lovely hostel owner picked me up (for free!), which was very much appreciated after a long bus ride from Chiang Mai! The room was basic but incredibly cheap and the atmosphere at the hostel was brilliant. Food and drink was tasty and fairly priced and the showers were... More

We arrived in the relatively hectic border crossing from Thailand after two peaceful days traveling up the Mekong. Maleewan picked us up at the port without charge in her pickup truck and whisked us off to the Baanrimtaling for the night. She also dropped us at the bus stop the next day. The rooms are quite basic, but the views... More

I moved to Chiang Khong when i was 18 years old and the local school moved me in to Baan Rimataling as a home-stay. Maleewan was introduced to me as my new mother and that is what she became! For 6 months i lived here with Maleewan and Don as my adoptive parents. It is the best place in world... More

We stayed at this guest house twice. It felt like a sanctuary after a long bus ride from Chiang Rae and after the two day boat trip back from Luang Prabang. The open porches offered a grand view of the Mekong and we were happy that they served food so that we could eat and look at the sunset. --... More

We rode the local bus from Chiang Rai which was a great SE Asia experience. Arrived in Chiang Khong in the late afternoon and walked to the home stay from the bus stop. It wasn't that far and felt good to stretch our legs after traveling from Bangkok. I had booked two rooms but when we arrived at Baanrimtaling they... More
