I booked one night in October 2008 and ended staying for 3. I originally booked due to the close proximity to the Gennfiddich Distillery (this being the main reason for the visit to this area) but the Highlander was one of the highlights of my trip to Scotland. Very good accomodation, excellent food (I enjoyed several meals including the best... more

The Highlander is a fabulously well run small hotel in Craigellachie. We arrived bang in the middle of dinner and the staff were clearly busy but took time to greet and check us in carefully. We stayed in the refurbished cottage across the street which was perfect for us having a separate single room for our young daughter which she... more

Stayed there this summer with my father and brother. Wonderful little hotel in Speyside. Great food (although don't be in a hurry) and clean, nice rooms. My father had problems with his back and the staff was very accommodating and caring. Thanks! more

We did not stay here, rather the craigellachie hotel across the road, we drank there twice and the beer abd whisky selection are impressive, we ate an evening meal, in the bar (there is a restaurant upstairs), it was above average pub grub, the staff are most pleasent more

We decided to stay here for one night to sample some fine whiskys at the whisky bar here. We were very happy with the room. It was very spacious and open. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom was big and clean. Linens and towels were clean and crisp. The staff, while a little hard to find at... more

A great place to stay if you're on a whisky tour and can't afford the Craigellachie Hotel. We stopped here for one night because we wanted to sample the 700 whiskies on offer at the far more expensive five-star place across the road. The Highlander is friendly and relaxed and has probably the world's best Japanese whisky expert behind the... more

Stayed here a few nights in June. Had previously stayed at another hotel in Craigellaiche, but it was very expen$$ive! Although a small hotel with only 5 rooms, you can chose to dine in the bar or upstairs in the dining room. Same chef. Nice ambience either way. Reserve early for the dining room. This place is good and apparently... more

We booked the Highlander Inn for a trip to Speyside with my partner's parents. The lodging was good with a comfy bed and a good shower. Only slight complaint is being able to hear the TV upstairs, but it was turned off before late hours. The best part was the bar downstairs and the hospitality of the staff, particularly Duncan.... more

The place is definitely in a great location, just near the Macallan and several other distilleries, the cooperage etc... The food was good and pub has a relaxed atmosphere and yes a great whisky list similar if not the same to accross the road. I was expecting the place opposite to be far grander than it was...It is more like... more

This is the best place to stay if you are in Speyside for whiskey tasting. Our room was large and well appointed, the proprietors and staff friendly and thorough, the food was excellent, the whiskey selection was exceptional, and the cost reasonable. The place across the street is more upscale but stuffy. It's right on the river Spey near the... more
