Simply horrible. We were the only people there, literally! There were no other guests, and there was no staff in the evening. There was no food service, at all. Our room was small and dirty with mildew. The grounds were dilapidated. The hotel was in a terrible location, remote and far from El Yunque. more

The Rio Grande Eco Plantation Resort is absolutely horrible – do not stay here! The website makes this place look like an amazing family-friendly resort, so my husband, 2-year old daughter and I booked it without checking the TripAdvisor reviews. Big Mistake!! The website is not to be trusted. We were the only people staying there the entire three nights... more

My husband and I checked into Rio Grande for two nights so we could take in some hiking in El Yunque. Advertised as at the foot of the El Yunque rainforest, Rio Grande is situated on the opposite side of El Yunque from the park entrance, so requires about a 20 minute drive to the park's trails. The stay is... more

The web site makes this place seem vibrant, clean and full of activities. We arrived to find a resort that was in an advanced state of disrepair and deserted. The rooms were dirty and the circulating pump for a once-beautiful pool was sitting on the side of the deck pumping water into the air. Unfortunately, before our visit when I... more

Rio Grande Plantation is a jewel. We had just come from a week on Culebra so we were relaxed and peaceful. The drive from Fajardo to the Rio Grande Plantation was culture shock with traffic jams, loud music blaring, and tons of people. Rio Grande Plantation took us back to the peacefulness of Culebra...only at the rain forest instead of... more

This place may have been nice 20 years ago, but nothing has been updated since. Everything was rusty, the fixtures, the pool. The place was deserted! We did not see another guest the entire time and it took 30 minutes to find an employee. The cable didn't work, the restaurant was abandoned. I suggest finding something else!!! more

My daughter was visiting me in Puerto Rico (where I recently moved in, but live on the west coast) and after spending two days in posh, urbane El Convento in Old San Juan, we decided to spend a couple of days enjoing nature in general and El Yunque in particular, so we chose the Eco Resort. We arrived in the... more

We found this property listed in several travel books including Fodors and "off the beaten path". It sounds too good to be true and it is. We were the only ones staying in this "resort". The second bathroom shower didn't work, the fans didn't work, the rooms had an outdated appearance. The pool was ok but the pump didn't work.... more

We arrived during heavy rain in the mid-afternoon and made our way to the registration building. Oddly, the lights were on but NO ONE was to be seen anywhere. We waited a bit in the registration lobby and were surprised to see a large mouse walk by us twice. After waiting and not seeing anyone OR seeing a sign of... more

We wanted a place close to El Yunque and booked here from Old San Juan. It has potential but the whole place is in need of attention. We booked a 2-bed 2-bath suite for four. We were the only ones booked at the place! I guess that should have told us something. The toilet didn't work but, luckily, there was... more
