Delightful professionally run B&B close to Henfield ( itself a beautiful village). Pauline & Paul made us feel very welcome in their gorgeous home that had beautiful, thoughtful touches throughout. Pauline offered us tea and home baked cake on our arrival, which was a lovely gesture. Our bedroom was incredibly comfortable and my daughter declared she was going to simply... More

It is actually 15 months since we stayed at Sussex Prairies (December 2011) under the incredible hospitality of Pauline and Paul and I've been meaning to write this review since then as a thank you for their care and creativity. We stayed there the first two nights after our wedding and Pauline prepared the room and house beautifully. It was... More

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay at the Sussex Prairies in Henfield to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary on 16 September this year. The room we stayed in was the Red Room. We were looking for some place that is very English and romantic to spend the night. My wife loves flowers and garden. So we thought this... More

Paul and I have been very touched to hear how much you appreciated your stay with us. All we want to do is complement our garden with a beautiful place to stay and enjoy it ! And indeed lively discussion at the breakfast table is a very big part of our style and hopefully an enjoyable part of the whole... More

We recently stayed at the Sussex Prairies for 2 nights between getting married and jetting off to Vietnam on honeymoon. Given the timing, we wanted to hide out somewhere relaxing and romantic and we booked based on the reviews that went before us. From the moment we arrived, the Sussex Prairies did not disappoint and lived up to all of... More

We (from Germany) recently stayed at Sussex Prairies with friends from the UK and New York. I totally agree with all the wonderful things shared here before. Pauline and Paul are impeccable hosts; they are there when you want them and invisible when you don't. All of us felt totally welcome and all of us were really happy we chose... More

Omg we have just had the most wonderful weekend at Susses Prairies. Harry feels rejuvenated after his weekend of plant, art, and cake admiration. He was a little alarmed by the size of the hermit crab in the garden (you don't get many of them where he comes from!) but he soon recovered after a visit to the tea room... More

Last year while in a little village in the Luberon France, we got the London Times newspaper. That was the weekend Sussex Prairies had a wonderful article about her garden and B and B.....how fortuitous! The garden created by Pauline and Paul McBride is stunningly beautiful. I am often dismayed by the pretentious guff spouted when gardens are described at Chelsea, Hampton Court etc. but the Sussex Prairies more than compensate. It consists of masses of beautiful plants, more plants and yet more plants with a welcome absence of hard landscaping - merely the occasional... More

Glad to hear that this guest was up for the total plant immersion and found pleasure in our swathes of colours ,textures, shape and form. Our plants are there to be enjoyed wholeheartedly by fully entering into the borders and being subsumed by plants. We were careful not to include hard landscaping in our garden, a garden that we like... More

The stay at Paul and Pauline was like visiting good friends. You feel at home from the moment you step into the beautiful, bright and very well maintained house.
