A year-round recreational area for boaters, swimmers, fishermen, hikers, photographers, campers, and sightseers. Lake Mead is a huge reservoir impounded by the Hoover Dam. Approximately 30 miles from Las Vegas. Entrance fees charged.
Hoover Dam, once known as Boulder Dam, is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between Arizona and Nevada. Hoover Dam impounds Lake Mead, and is located near Boulder City, Nevada. Paid parking, visitor center and guided tours.
Day 3
The 25-foot-tall sign is located in the median at 5100 Las Vegas Boulevard South. The sign marks the classic start to the famous Las Vegas Strip. A small parking area is provided.
