Points of Interest

1. Start of Trail

Turn north off Highway 103 onto Cascade Creek Road 116.

2. Loop Starts Here

To drive loop in counterclockwise direction as we did, turn right here on F.S. 710.1C. (Shane: Maybe what we need is a picture of a turning arrow, when we don’t have any other photos.)

3. Painted Rock

You must turn right and head uphill towards Lamartine Townsite. Left is private. Watch for large painted boulder with the word “Lamartine.”

4. Lamartine Townsite

At “T” intersection at top of hill, main trail continues to left on 712.2. To see ruins at Lamartine Townside, follow tiny road 727.1B hard left downhill through the trees.

5. Forest Road 712.2B joins on right

Main trail continues to right. Consider side trip to left on 712.2B, which goes to interesting cabin in 0.2 miles.

6. Top of Spring Creek

Continue west on 712.2. Trail on right going downhill, marked 712.2J, is top of popular Spring Creek, a hardcore Jeep route. (Also a FunTreks eGuide.)

7. View Looking North

As you cruise along 712.2, an open area provides this view.

8. Top end of Cascade Creek Road

Stay right here on 710.1. This road goes back to start of loop and continues downhill to Highway 103 where you started.
