Tips: 

  • Los Osos Oaks is only open during daylight hours.
  • Poison oak is by far the most common plant you will see along the trail, particularly along the shaded parts of the route.  Stay on the main trail and watch your step!
  • This trail's short distance and generally level terrain makes it a great hike for small children.  However, there are several unofficial side trails that branch off the Los Osos Creek Trail and lead to overlooks of Los Osos Creek itself.  These overlooks end at sheer dropoffs directly into the creek, about 20 feet below.  If you have small children with you, stay on the main trail.
  • The park makes an excellent side trip when visiting nearby Montana de Oro State Park, just a few miles farther down Los Osos Valley Road.
