Buenos Aires for free
This is probably the neatest blast-to-the-past subway ride you’ll ever take. The A Line was the first subte line built here. It still uses rollicking old wooden trains. Jump on, and feel the breeze blowing through its open windows when it’s warm.
A lively fair with performers and street vendors takes place every Sunday at the second oldest square in the city.
By day, this riverfront area is a booming business and shopping district and by night, a hip neighborhood with pricey restaurants and fashionable clubs.
It’s ALL about Argentine tango sensation Carlos Gardel at this café, which boasts decorations that celebrate this legend around the clock. Besides the nonstop Gardel songs, the café’s Argentine/Italian fare also makes it worth the stop.
Legendary tango singer Carlos Gardel bought the home housing this museum for his mother in the 1920s. Today it’s essentially a shrine to the man whose music put the Argentine tango scene on the world map.
