There is quite an interesting history attached to Yorkville. It can be traced back to 1830 when Yorkville an area in Toronto, emerged ... more »as both a residential and an area that had two main industries. One was a brick yard and the other a brewery. Even so many years ago it was a picturesque part of Toronto with beautiful homes and gardens. Many of the Victorian structures from way back then have survived all these years, although there was a time in the 1960's when Yorkville was very run down. In the 80's and 90's a change started to occur when many buildings were being renovated while other newer ones were going up. Today there is a mix of high end stores, beautiful condos as well as those gorgeous restored Victorian homes. In more recent years several high end hotels have been added to this area.
Many designers have their shops here and if you want to see the up and coming fashions and hair styles there is no better place than Yorkville. You will see smartly dressed people, some amazing cars, and actually even the dogs you will see on their leashes look high end! Although the area is busy it still has a peacefulness about it and it really is one of the prettiest areas in Toronto. People that are fortunate to call Yorkville their home just have to walk out their door and they will be in the midst of lovely serene areas, pretty boutiques, restaurants and many other interesting finds. Over the years Yorkville has grown into one of Toronto's trendiest neighborhoods and is really worth checking out.
