  • 1. Flic En Flac
Flic En Flac, Riviere Noire District

Flic en Flac has a beautiful long public beach. On weekends lots of local crowd and tourists are on the beach and you will find lots of Mobile Snack shops right on the beach. Flic en Flac town has everything - Restaurants, Money Exchange, Clothes Shops, Discos, Pubs, a Casino and a small shopping center which has a nice supermarket Spar. There are many hotels in Flic en Flac which are right on the beach and most of the 3 star and above ones have their own private section of the beach. For people who are going on a budget there are quite a few 2 and 3 star Hotels as well as apartments very close to the public beach which are quite reasonable.

  • 2. Pamplemousse Botanical Gardens Mauritius
    http://www.tourisminmauritius.com/tourist-attractions/botanical/

If you want to have a nice long peaceful walk amongst greenery then this garden is the ideal place. There is a huge variety of trees and plants. If you are really interested in botany you can get a guide at the main entrance who will give you a guided tour. The main attraction for us in this garden was the Gaint Water Lilies. We had never ever seen such huge ones before.

  • 3. Casela Bird Park Mauritius

You will be amazed with the variety of birds that Casella has. The best thing was that most of them were roaming free and you could also go into most of the enclosures and be in close proximity to the birds. Cassella also has quad bikes and an option to walk with Lions. They also have some enclosures which have a few lions and cheetahs. If you are a wildlife lover a visit to Cassella is a must.

  • 4. Blue Bay
    Blue Bay, Grand Port District

Blue bay is a very beautiful place and has the clearest and bluest water in all Mauritius hence the name. Glass bottom boat is the main attraction here and a must do. You can see a lot of coral and so many beautiful fishes. It is truly a wonderful experience.

  • 5. La Vanille Reserve des Mascareignes
La Vanille Reserve des Mascareignes, Bel Ombre, Savanne District

The park is really beautiful and you feel like you are walking in a jungle. A park guide will be more than happy to show you around (no charge). It has many animals (most of them in enclosures). I like the tortoises the best as one can walk around with them in their enclosure and touch and feed them. La Vanille has lots of crocodile (some really huge ones), iguanas, monkeys, turtles, bull frogs and even an insectarium. If you are wildlife lover then La Vanille is a must visit. You can even get a picture taken of you holding a baby crocodile.

  • 6. Cauden Waterfront Complex
Cauden Waterfront Complex, Port Louis, Port Louis District

Port Louis Waterfront is a lovely place to take a walk in the evening or do shopping or visit the casino. There are shopping centers, restaurants, pubs and even a movie theater. If you like to buy branded clothes then this is right place.

  • 7. Grand Bassin Mauritius
    http://www.travelmauritius.info/grand_bassin.html

Grand Bassin is also known as Ganga Talao. This is holy place having Hindu temples. There is a huge statue of Lord Shiva which I guess would be around 5 storey high. You can also climb up the steps to the Hanumanji temple from where you can get an excellent view of the entire area.

  • 8. Ile aux Cerfs
    Ile aux Cerfs, Mauritius, Africa

Ile aux Cerfs Beach is located around the island that sits within the lagoon near the town of Trou d'Eau Douce. You can get to Ile aux Cerfs by boat. You can get a package deal from the local boating companies which include Barbecue, lobster, drinks and transfer to and fro Ile aux Cerfs. The barbecues are delicious and the guys there entertain you with their local songs. Go early in the day and spend the whole day on Ile aux Cerfs. Excellent place for various water sports and swimming in the clear blue lagoons.

  • 9. Trou aux Cerfs
    Trou aux Cerfs, Mauritius, Africa

Trou aux cerfs is a dormant volcano. Go there in the day so that you can see the crater clearly. A lot of people come here to walk or jog in the evening as there is a road that goes around the crater.

  • 10. Aquarium in Mauritius
    http://www.travelmauritius.info/aquarium.html

For people who are fond of fish a visit to the Mauritius Aquarium at Pointe aux Piments is a good option. There are all kinds of marine fish in small tanks. There is also a gigantic tank which has Sharks, turtles and all kinds of exotic marine fishes which you can see through the glass and also from the top of the tank.
