  • 1. Square Cafe
    Square Cafe, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Funky diner-type restaurant with great breakfast/brunch options. Get something with Nutella.

  • 2. Nakama Japanese Steakhouse
    Nakama Japanese Steakhouse, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The best Japanese food in Pittsburgh. It's easier to get in for lunch than dinner on a weekend. Instead of the ubiquitous placement with crayons, Nakama gives out these great wax covered pipecleaner-like toys-- hard to explain but fun and creative for kids. The waiters can get a little name-droppy, and it's not cheap, but the food is fantastic.

  • 3. Eat 'n Park Restaurant
Eat 'n Park Restaurant, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

It's like Denny's, but with free smiley cookies for kids.

  • 4. Max & Erma's

Basic kids' menu, and the adult choices aren't much to write home about, but they have a sundae bar that kids love. It even has blue whipped cream, which I think is vile, but my daughter loves it. These darn kids today.
