Battlebus does a wonderful tour. Dale was our guide and he was terrific and so knowledgeable. WE got picked up in Bayeux so that was easy and we toured from 8:30-5:30. My father had landed on Utah Beach on Dday and he never talked about it. Suddenly he wanted to go back. Dale was so respectful as was everyone there. They treat veterans and Americans there with total respect and awe. People everywhere thanked him and wanted his autograph. At the American Cemetary, which is the most beautiful, emotional place to visit, he got to take down the flag and fold it, talk with students from Iowa and England who all looked him in the eye, shook his hand, and thanked him. The staff and directors of the cemetary made him feel so special and it was the highlight of the trip for him. Normandy remembers. The next day we did a private tour and Dale took us along the route that my father's battalion went. He could never remember since he was always in the fields moving fast. Dale even took us to a street in one town that was named after his division. That was so cool. The townspeople there maintain monuments to the Americans and the American flag flies everywhere. He was so happy and gratified that people hadn't forgotten. I highly recommend this tour. It was well done, professional and people were so kind! Dale studied everything he could get his hands on and it's his passion.

  • 3. One day in Paris for dad.

My dad also wanted to see Paris. He had marched down the Champs Elysees by L'Arc de Triomphe as the crowds cheered at being liberated. He was so excited to see that again! Did a tour that was pre-recorded though and it talked about all the conquerers etc. who had come down this route and NOT ONE word was mentionned about the Americans in WW2 who had entered the city to liberate them. Hmmm.... interesting that. Don't bother with the Paris Vision prerecorded tour. Boring ride and then the Eiffel Tower and Seine boat ride, but they don't wait and take you back so you're on your own anyway. Waste of money.

An amazingly wonderful restaurant!! 24, place du Marche St. Honore'. A great area with cute shops and lots of restaurants. The food was magnificent. Like the kind of food that you don't want to finish because then it will be gone. It's presentation is stunning as well. What a great place. Would definitely eat there again. Go! A great last night in Europe restaurant.
