The Chula Vista Nature Center is a living, breathing, flapping, buzzing and splashing home to the unique animals and plants of Southern California. The small zoo & aquarium is a convenient 6 miles south of downtown San Diego and is nestled within the peaceful setting of the 316-acre Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge. The Nature Center aquariums are home to Moray eels, Leopard sharks, stingrays, guitarfish and other marine life found in San Diego Bay. Rescued birds thrive in exhibits like Raptor Row and Eagle Mesa. Owls, hawks, falcons, waterfowl, shorebirds and eagles are just a few of our resident native birds.The Chula Vista Nature Center provides you the opportunity to have a close-up experience with San Diego’s locals – wild locals, that is.
