"This museum is a great find--it is a large dramatic building with excellent presentations of the history of the Shenandoah Valley, the art work of the area, furniture, clothing, etc. Displays are well done and there are two films to see, one of the history of the area and the other on the Civil War..." in the Shenandoah. The Decorative Arts Rooms have ceramics, furniture, baskets, etc from the area. There are changing art exhibits--the next is on American Impressioniam.
There is a gallery on the miniature houses and rooms which were ccllected by R Lee Taylor, who lived and worked at Glen Burnie for almost 50 years. An amazing collection.
The museum also has a lovely, excellent cafe for lunch--we had an open face pork sandwich with mashed potatioes and salad for only $695 and a gigantic club sandwich for $725. Excellent food at very reasonable prices. The admission of $10 and $8 for seniors also gets you into the historic Glen Burnie House (which is closed until 2014 for renov...

"I'm fortunate to live right across the main highway from this battlefield. It's a great educational opportunity as Winchester changed hands 72 times during the Civil War. Many local folk exercise here on a daily basis as the trails are great and the views across the meadows are lovely; there is a ..."great mix of meadows and forests with improved trails in most locations.

"The Court House is located in Old Town. Our guide explained the history of the courthouse and was thoroughly knowledgeable.
Seeing the writings and drawings of soldiers during the Civil War was amazing. Lots of small artifacts. We were allowed to ring the bell. My 3 year old daughter loved that but...", she did need some help. A dat bit pricey but, well worth it to preserve the history!
