Founded in 1976, the first museum to honor 4th President James Madison. The Museum houses a wealth of artifacts in its nearly 10,000 square feet of exhibit space that bring to life the rich history of Orange, Virginia. A nice assortment of Madison's belongings, wonderful documents that include Ambrose Madison's will and George Washington's letter to Tobias Lear about the celebrations of Virginia's ratification of the Constitution; gowns, farm tools and equipment, conveyances and even a 1733 house....and more! Only 4 miles from our friends at Montpelier (James Madison's life-long home), located in the historic town of Orange. Handicap friendly and plenty of parking around the building.
