"Great adventure. Don't miss the touch tank at the Tom's Cove Visitor's Center or the nice gift shop. We enjoyed picking up the Horseshoe Crab...The ranger and staff were very nice. Bring bug spray..."
"Well, not exactly. Capt. Dan wisely cancelled his trips for the day my friend and I were scheduled for our tour due to rough seas. I told him when we finally did go out that we didn't mind his re-scheduling our trip because we didn't want to end up like the passengers on his voice-mail theme song ..."(Gilligan's Island). Anyway, the day we went turned out to be PERFECT! We saw almost all of the horses on the island, some of them very close. A lot of the mares had foals with them. We also had an unusual sighting of a deer swimming to one of the small grassy islands. We stayed around until the deer was safely on land, running through the grass. We also got to see a pair of Bald Eagles and Osprey. As for Capt. Dan himself, he is the perfect tour guide. Having grown up on Chincoteague he is very knowledgeable about pretty much everything there is to know about Chincoteague and Assateague. As he freely admits, if you don't interupt him with a question he can keep a running commentary...

"On our recent visit to Chincoteague Island my wife an I decided to do a water tour of the islands, ponies and wildlife. Having many to choose from and after reading reviews and deciding not to do a big boat where you sometimes feel like a sheep, we picked Captain Dan. What a treasure trove of inform..."ation this man is! It was an absolute joy being on this man's boat, he taught us so much about the history of the island. Oh, and did I mention we saw ponies, ponies and more ponies with their foals. He had a photo album with him so we could identify some of the ponies as we saw them, so great.
Thank You Captain Dan, we be back and you can bet we'll be telling our friends. Wishing you the best for you and your family, Steve & Vina Bechard, Plattsburgh, NY
