The Mabry-Hazen House Museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located on five acres atop Mabry Hill and includes the 4-acre Civil War Bethel Cemetery. This stately, elegant home of the Victorian and Civil War periods showcases one of the largest collections of original artifacts including, china, silver, crystal, and antique furnishings. Built in 1858 and housing three generations of the same family from 1858-1987, the Mabry-Hazen House served as headquarters for both the Union and Confederate troops during the Civil War. "I took my daughter to visit the campus and she fell in love with it. The campus is very spread out, however, once you take the tour and walk around its easier to find your way. The scenery is beautiful, with the Tennessee River running just behind it. Downtown Knoxville is within walking distance wh..."ich is nice. It was a beautiful town, and everyone at the university was so friendly.

"After living my whole life in Knoxville, I had never been there until now. I even attended classes in the lecture hall and still never explored the museum. My grandson suggested that we go as he had been there before. What a great call that was! There were numerous exhibits at the time including pri..."mates and the evolution of man, Cherokee Indians, the Civil War and ancient Japanese culture. The exhibits change so you can go over and over and enjoy something new and educational. The museum was also way bigger than I thought so it took us maybe two hours to roam around. There is no cost either which blew my mind. There were not many people there so you can take your time to really look and read everything you want. I was very in awe of this place and we will most certainly go back.
