The South Carolina State Museum is filled with the best of the state's history, science and technology, art and natural history. Science demonstrations, hands-on exhibits, fine art and a children's center make this one of the top family attractions in the state. Sit in a replica of an1830s steam engine, gaze at a 43 foot model of a prehistoric white shark, step into a one room schoolhouse - it's always fun at the State Museum!

"This is easily one of the best zoo's around. We have been to every major zoo coast to coast and this place really impresses. It starts when you show up. The price is the most reasonable I've seen even compared to small zoos. There is a ton of variety of animals and the layout is great. The zoo w..."as really busy but it never felt crowded. Almost every path is shaded so you aren't baking in the sun all day. We will definitely be back.

"We visited this zoo on a weekday in June, after school summer break started and I just wanted to say how much we all enjoyed the experience at this zoo with a 4 year old and 2 year old. The Zoo is nicely laid out and there is a surprising number of critters in what seemed to be easily walkable area...". Also, the enclosures were pretty good so we didn't feel too bad for the animals who live there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I enjoy flowers and plants and this zoo is quite lush with botanicals everywhere, which also provided a lot of shade which was appreciated in the 90 degree weather. I highly recommend this zoo.

"Went to this zoo with my 10 year old son and we loved this place. It's the right size, not too big or small and has so many animals. The highlight was watching the penguin feeding at 3:30. They are adorable!! This zoo will not disappoint. And the price is right too. It was $21.00 for the two o..."f us and we were there for hours.
