- TBD12 contributionsPlease don't think that the Marland Mansion and Marland's Grand Home are one in the same; they are not! Both are distinctly different. I know both well as I was born in Ponca in 1968 and raised there. The Mansion is gorgeous and I've enjoyed many proms, weddings and Octoberfests there; I also also have fond memories of visiting the mansion to buy baked goods from the nuns in the 70's. Lydie roaming the streets of Ponca during my childhood years. The Grand Home (aka Cultural Center to us old timers) was Marland's first Ponca home and is equally spectacular; many teas, fundraisers and societal gatherings were held there. Enjoy both if you can. The Mansion is located on Monument Rd. and the Grand Home is on Grand Ave. The best restaurants in the area are Rusty Barrell, Enrique's and Taco Stop. Hope you enjoy PC! Don't forget to check out the Pioneer Woman statue and museum. The statue is iconic and the museum is a tribute to the women of Oklahoma.Written 6 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KenLoveland, CO1,167 contributionsTHANK YOU to the volunteers who keep this piece of history alive. It's a lot of work, but so worth it. What a wonderful window into a time and place so distant in one way, but so near in another. I wasn't alive when the Marlands lived here - not even close - but my great grandmother, whom I knew well, would have been a young woman in this home's heyday.
We especially enjoyed the mini-tour given to us by the woman volunteering that day, and learned more in 15 minutes than in a week of attending a history class.Written 24 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We spent a little over an hour here and learned a lot about the interesting history of Conoco and its many great employees over the years. It’s an amazing business we knew little about before visiting. Be sure to catch the introductory video before walking through the museum. The young lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this museum when in the area.Written 30 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BarbaraSMsdFaulkton, SD35 contributionsEnjoyed this place very much. We were the only ones there but that was not surprising during covid. Would have liked to see the demos but they were not doing them. There is an admission fee but we got in free because my husband asked about a veterans discount. We got in free because are both veterans. According to their flier, their gift shop featured hand made items from 20 artists. What I saw was mostly made in china.Written 16 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Chris C2 contributionsVisited this site in August. Did not visit the education center. The trail on the outside is worth the stop. The statue is amazing. Would love to see it at night.Written 1 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BlueDevilOKCOklahoma City, OK849 contributionsLake Ponca has a great swimming area. There is a long sand beach. The lake bottom near the shore is covered with fine gravel - feels good on the feet and isn’t muddy. We had a great time beating the summer heat at the lake.Written 26 June 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steve DOklahoma City, OK127 contributionsIf you win a jackpot, from their slots, large or small, run to your car and hightail it out of there. Such as it is, with Oklahoma's Indian Gaming, which is not governed by any State agency, as it should be.
A hit on 3 sevens, at one of these places will barely get you back your money bet. Best to go on to Kansas, which has better oversight, and games like Las Vegas.
I like Indians and their casinos, don't get me wrong... However, I don't like paying for the mistakes of my White ancestors.Written 5 March 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Quantity of slides is less than major waterparks, but is more than adequate for a smaller community than major cities. Concession stand has best prices compared to all others in similar setting. Also, great layout as teens can be let loose and kept in sight for the majority of park. One major critique: put some TLC in the putt putt course!!!
Overall, be ready, we're coming back!!!Written 29 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
