"I went to a few different beaches at Riviera Maya during my 7-days stay, and I can't decide which one was my favourite. However, Akumal Beach is definitely one that I would like to had more time to spend on it.
For people that like nature, warm water, beautiful sightseeings and a great experienc..."e with sea turtles, Akumal Beach is a mandatory stop. I've been in some parks and protected environments before where I could interact with sea turtles. But this is a whole different level.
The beach is protected by a coral reef and the bottom of the sea is full of growing sea weed which is the most perfect combination of factors for sea turtles: lots of food and no natural predators such as sharks, that are sealed off the beach by the coral reef.

"Swimming with the turtles was amazing. We saw several and even saw a baby turtle. We saw stingrays, as well as a very large barracuda. Not that many fish though"
"My wife and I made 16 dives with Scubaquatic during our recent 2 week stay at the Gran Bahia Sian Kaan. We enjoyed everyone of them. 14 of them were local ocean dives, all a 5 minute or less boat ride from the beach. It was very convenient being able to leave our own equipment in the provided locker..."s. It would take us all of 10 minutes to prep for a dive after the first day. The staff was very friendly and took care of all our needs. All we needed to do was show up, suit up, and roll off the boat to start enjoying sea turtles galore. Lionfish hunting with Octavio was fun too, and spearing my own was a highlight of my trip.
The trip to Doj Ojos Cenote was great too. Our first attempt was cancelled due to visibility. 4 straight days of heavy rain brought visibility down to nil, so our guide called off the dive saying we would not appreciate the views. I appreciated that he did not force the dive just to make some money, and really appreciated it when we came back a few days later and e...
