Old North State Winery started as a cooperative in 2002 and has since evolved into a winery owned by two families with one vision. Our vineyards were established on farms that have been in our families for generations. We hope you enjoy the culmination of our dreams, our devotion to our farmland, and our passion for our wines produced at Old North State Winery. Most of our wines start out as luscious wine grapes grown on Yadkin Valley North Carolina family farms. We are the Old North State Winery, Inc. located in Mount Airy, in the headwaters of the Yadkin Valley AVA. Wine, beer and fine foods are our passion and our legacy.

"My mom and I recently toured the museum and found it to be done quite well for such a small town. As you enter the ground floor you are immediately welcomed with local wildlife information in the form of taxidermy. Then, the path follows history of indians with indian artifacts and there is an examp..."le of an old indian hut covered with tree bark, very interesting. You follow the circle and the history of white settlers into the area.
It is done very well and they do a good job with pictures from the era and little written explanations. There is also a very large log cabin example of how early life was for the early settlers. All of the surrounding communities are represented here on wall boards. There are 2 upper floors which have some history of the hospital, Donna Fargo, some music history, and clothing styles from many years ago. There is a large doll collection from a donor of dolls from around the world, some examples of some old children's toys, and a few examples of some early t...

"Wally's service is a
Mayberry's station, complete with Andy's squad car ( take a tour in it!) and gift shop with very unusual things. Staff very helpful to give historical advice. One if the best places in town.
Andy's Sherrie office and jail next door in the Mayberry Courthouse "
"This was, by far, my most favorite stop in "Mayberry"!!! It is an absolute must see for the Mayberry fan. Though there really isn't a Floyd, the 89 year old barber, Mr. Hiatt, is a close second. He was quite a talker, told us a few jokes, posed for pictures, the whole nine yards. He even had a few g..."uys that were just there hanging out. It was great to just sit and chat with all of them, and feel like Andy or Barney could walk in at any minute.
I couldn't help but sit for a long time, holding Mr. Hiatt's hand while he told me joke after joke...all the while my hubby was taking pictures of us. Mr. Hiatt's told us he had been cutting hair for 66 years and I asked him when he was going to quite. He told me that he'd quit when he physically couldn't do it any more. When I asked him why he keeps working so hard, he said because of sweet young ladies like myself. He said that he likes when we fuss over him, hold his hand, pat his back, etc. Now mind you, I'm 56 years old! I'm not really a...
