Entering the hall of fame main building was a rush of boxing history with world Champion belts , ring robes , shorts , gloves worn by all of the greatest inductees from the past. Which was donated after thousands of famous fights. In the same building is a large gift shop with signed gloves (authenticated) from hundreds of fighters some still active some retired some passed away. If your there the first week of June the annual induction of new hall of famers is on and the little town puts on a great four day event and so many past inductees are wandering around with new inductees , as a fan it is a must.   "We had a very pleasant day trip (from Syracuse) to the IBHOF and Ft. Stanwix in Rome. While my husband knows boxing fairly well, my 19-year-old grandson and I have only a basic acquaintance with the sport. There was something here for all of us. Some nice displays about the well-known champions over..." the years, and lots of info about notable boxers going back to the 1800's. TVs with video clips of major knock-outs added to the experience. If you liked "Cinderella Man" or "Raging Bull," you'll enjoy this museum. There are bronze casts of various boxers' fists which gives a good sense of the power of the big guys. Some interesting info on the bare-knuckles boxers of the earlier era. I'd hoped for some more interactive types of displays, but all in all, we learned, got an appreciation of the sport, and would recommend to anyone passing through.
