When you first get there, pull off early as you climb the mountain and park so you can walk out on the trail and boardwalk to the waterfall. It is so pretty! As you drive up the mountain, you come to the stable areas and you see the restaurant...". The restaurant is quite out of date, and feels like a Friendly's -- major opportunity here for them to improve the ambiance here! The deck is gorgeous, but it is overpriced and they don't have a nice drink list. It felt like a major letdown to be in this beautiful setting....with a bottle of Budweiser and a low-end glass of wine. They have a trolley that takes you up to the castle. The castle grounds are STUNNING, especially the back garden. However, the inside needs some work and obviously some funding to continue & maintain the preservation. " More >

It was truly wonderful to see the home, it had some beautiful stain glass windows and antique furniture throughout the ..."home. Outside there are lovely gardens and it is well landscaped and on a clear day the view is breathtaking. We really enjoyed this outing and it is definitely worth your time if you're in the area. Someone had mentioned in another review about taking a picnic and that really would be great to do, I'll have to remember that next time we go! " More >
