Things to do in Franconia - Tourist Places in Franconia
"I liked that I could hike artist bluff and have a very pretty view of this. So rewarding to hike and have such a reward. Franconia Notch is very visible here. Many other points of view to see other than Old Man. "
"An unusual parkway between the Kinsman and Franconia mountain ranges rolls and winds north to south for 8 miles through this 6,440-acre park; this route runs from Echo Lake south to Flume Gorge. A bike path parallels the parkway. The stone outcrop called Old Man of the Mountain is just a pile of rub..."ble; only a historical site commemorates it now. Echo Lake is an excellent photogenic stop at the north end, in season or out — even at $4 to get inside, this was hands-down our favorite place on the entire parkway. Flume Gorge is another one at the south end — aside from stopping in at the Visitors Center we avoided it. Many scenic turnouts punctuate the route. Summer and fall are by far the best times of year to see this park. Fall traffic is only slightly heavier than summers each year.

Passing underneath the Franconia Cliffs over Profile Lake where the thousands of years of erosion- and gravity-challenged granite had added to that massive pile, I strained to find any sign that "he" might still be there, but only a scar remained against the cliffs where the official symbol of the State of New Hampshire once sat watching all who passed beneath along the Route 3/-I...
