I'd been wanting to come here for ages and was excited to finally have the opportunity to do so. This large recreated village is a wonderful way to learn more about New England in the 19th century; it has everything from printing to metallurgy to farming, and live actors to explain more about day-to-day life. We got to watch the actors actually practice some of the trades as they were actually practiced in the 19th century - we especially loved watching the gentleman running the printing press, and he patiently answered all of our questions. The paths were clear and easy to walk, and there were plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the views. We were here in early March, so some of the warmer-weather areas (like the herb garden and the bee shed) were still dormant - we're looking forward to coming back here in warmer weather to enjoy everything else. The restrooms were very clean, and they have a tavern here where you can sit and eat. This is a super big village and is very detail-oriented.

The one drawback I'll mention is that I wish there had been more signs throughout the village. There were signs to tell us where to park, but then there weren't any signs pointing to the main entrance, so we had to guess. Also, while we did get a map of the village at the main entrance, some of the buildings weren't labeled, so we had to guess which building pertained to which number on our map. We also didn't know which buildings had live actors, so we might have missed an opportunity to interact with more of the actors because we didn't know where they were located.
For example, the Richardson House, the printing office, and the metallurgical press all had live actors, but the bank and the law office were surprisingly empty - those would have been great opportunities to learn more about how banking and law were practiced in the 19th century.

This is a great place to stop for a bit of reflection. Plenty of parking. Can be as faith based as you make it. Pack a lunch and enjoy the solitude.

The Sturbridge Flea Market was on our list of things to do while in the area. I don’t remembering it being clearly marked but we found it nonetheless.

Located in an old mill building, it was not as expansive as I thought it would be but still good for a two hour treasure hunt.

Prices are all over the place depending on the vendor but there is still opportunity to find just the thing that you didn’t know you needed or wanted.

    Plenty of parking. Restrooms available.

A friend and I had lunch in Sturbridge and were looking for a place to walk after and admire the foliage. The waitstaff at the restaurant directed us to this location.

It is within 5 miles off the Mass Pike, there were numerous trails and what appeared to be a large field that could accommodate a sports match. There is a map in the parking lot which has all the trails named and their distance, so you know before starting.

We were there mid-afternoon on a weekday and the lot was almost filled up, it can only accommodate about 30 cars. The trail was beautiful and there were all age groups, bikers, joggers and walkers. Even though it was busy, there were enough trails that you weren't constantly in sight of other people, so social distancing wasn't an issue.

I will be back after the winter!

My son just had his wedding & reception here. The grounds are natural & beautiful. The barn was the perfect spot for the reception, so pretty. Doe and her staff were INCREDIBLE and HELPFUL- we could not have done it without all of them!! We opted for a package for the day of which also included rehearsal walk through. So glad we did, made my day a lot easier! We loved that they had animals, we really loved the whole setting, and so did the Bride & Groom. They had a BLAST!!!! Great place for a wedding folks!!! They are seasonal so always check their website for info and events!

We stopped here for a bit while we were on our way somewhere so we could stretch our legs and be in nature for a bit, and really enjoyed the experienced. It's not a super fancy park, but there are good hiking trails and camping sites, and a pretty pond with a beach if you want to suntan or take your boat onto the water. There are also paved trails if you want to ride your bike here. Bring a lot of bug spray, as there were a lot of mosquitoes, but that's to be expected at a park. The bathrooms were actually pretty clean, which I note because not all public parks have clean bathrooms.

The experience of Phantoms by Firelight at Old Sturbridge Village exceeded all my expectations. We have been to previous autumn and Halloween based productions at the Village and they were well done. My husband and I did not expect wildly talented and macabre actors to give us such a delightful spooky yet whimsical intro to the evening with their bravado in words and acts, followed by amazing and unusual old school circus acts of acrobatics and fire swallowing and high wire dramatics all set to powerful music. Each scene was set in an unexpected site at the Village, field and Common and by the pond (yes, for the fire fellow). Add the 2 dramatic bonfires with spooky stories, visits to historic homes with magical and scary displays, food and drink for the masses, events and activities for the many children there which ended with a trick or treat bag .

There was never a moment without a new activity or event to attend.

We had a delightful evening, the highlight of which was an amazing act of acrobatics strung from a tall set of poles by two very agile and delightful women and set to thrilling music. From the vantage point at one end of the Common you could see beyond the daring aerial tricks to the bonfire and beyond the red illuminated Meetinghouse. Lit torches and candled lanterns lighted our way. The pond was ablaze with 4 bold braziers.

An evening of thrills and amazement and a bit of scare for all ages.

Basic shopping area including walmart movie theater grocery and chain stores.

Apple bees and pizza uno Flank stores like.marshels and staples and a few others.

Walmart is the only one in the 15 mile Cinimark is the only movies anywhere around. Great local resources where there are few shopping areas around.
