Small waves, low dunes and lots of seashells make this narrow, two-mile stretch of public beach popular with families. The beach runs between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown, and is called "Bend-in-the-Road Beach" on the Edgartown side.

This Oak Bluffs beach and surrounding area of colorful gingerbread Victorian houses have strong links to African-American heritage on Martha's Vineyard, dating back to the Revolutionary War. The beach was the setting for a teenage romance movie called "The Inkwell."

"A place to have a drink before noon, chat with the locals and pass the time. Beer and a shot of course, no need to complicate things. Good MV hangout."
"My family is from Pennsylvania and were taking our first vacation to the cape and islands. We took the ferry from Woods Hole to Martha's Vineyard where we were greeted by Dave when we walked off the ferry. What a treat - outside of pictures and the whole Teddy Kennedy thing, we knew nothing about ..."the island. Dave knew EVERYTHING, and treated us like family. It was thoroughly enjoyable, easy, and we learned a lot and laughed a lot. It was like leaving a dear friend when Dave saw us off at the ferry later that day. I HIGHLY recommend Martha's Vineyard Transport and Tours - ask for Dave!
Thanks again, Dave! Well worth the money!

"Love this spot...it's blessedly quiet, with just the sounds of a nearby buoy and the ocean. A lovely place to watch the boats, ships and ferries go by. Also a great spot to catch a breeze on a hot day."
