Things to do in Everglades City - Tourist Places in Everglades City
"We took the morning Mangrove Tunnel tour. There was a family of four and us (a couple), together with Ron our guide. Our first concern was could we do it, having never kayaked before, but Ron demonstrated how to steer, reverse etc and we took to it like ducks to water! Started on a fairly open la..."ke, which enabled us to both practise and see birds nesting, before we entered our first mangrove tunnel - after Ron had checked that the resident alligator was basking over to the side so that we could all go by! I'd like to say that we didn't crash whilst in the mangrove tunnels but that would be untrue - it does test the communication in your kayak, perhaps even your relationship! Ron took the time to explain the intricacies of the mangroves and helped us to spot wildlife. An excellent way to spend a morning!

"My wife and I rented a Hobie Outfitter which Everglades Kayak Company had delivered down from their Naples location along with a can of MSR fuel that I requested (saving me a trip to the store). We knew it was going to be a good trip when a pair of dolphins came into the canal to greet us. Reeg and ..."Jacob gave us tips and helped get us on our way in short order, they were very helpful and provided good advice for the town. We ended up seeing many manatees, sea turtles, a few more dolphins, and a sting ray along with countless beautiful birds. Can't wait to go back!

"While boat tours are run by a private concession, not the Park Rangers, they still provide excellent insight and information. We did both tours in one afternoon, first the Mangroves (WOW), then Ten thousand Islands. No alligators (Captain Bill said they had moved upstream for ned of freshwater and t..."old us to find them at H.P.Williams boardwalk) but a Very close impression of estuary waters including, unavoidably, a few stings/bites from several of the 150 resident kinds of blood-loving insects.
On the second tour we had close encounters with dolphins swimming in the wake of our boat and managed to spot several island raccoons (thin creatures - no trashbins out there).
Highly recommended.
