Things to do in Everglades City - Tourist Places in Everglades City
"Being from Florida I expected a fast boring ritualed ride, our captain Johny made it fun and explaind every thing about the trees, wild life, the tide. We saw dolphin, alligator, racoons, birds got on our boat. Captain Johny made the ride more than a ride. My children have not stoped talking about the n..."ice hairy faced captain and all the animals we seen. They call him the big hairy faced man!! I did not know there was this site to rate our experience and Im glad a friend told me about it. I even made a personal call to the manager at Dougs to thank him for such a great trip and having such a great staff member give us sucha memorable ride. He influenced my son Bobby so much he wants to be a capatin like Captain Johny. Thank you again captain Dougs. The only thing we didnt like was the young man at the gator show and how rude and insensitive he was to my daughter, after she said she didnt want to be near the alligator, and he got it so close it flung water and slime on her. After all she is...

"We took the morning Mangrove Tunnel tour. There was a family of four and us (a couple), together with Ron our guide. Our first concern was could we do it, having never kayaked before, but Ron demonstrated how to steer, reverse etc and we took to it like ducks to water! Started on a fairly open la..."ke, which enabled us to both practise and see birds nesting, before we entered our first mangrove tunnel - after Ron had checked that the resident alligator was basking over to the side so that we could all go by! I'd like to say that we didn't crash whilst in the mangrove tunnels but that would be untrue - it does test the communication in your kayak, perhaps even your relationship! Ron took the time to explain the intricacies of the mangroves and helped us to spot wildlife. An excellent way to spend a morning!

"While boat tours are run by a private concession, not the Park Rangers, they still provide excellent insight and information. We did both tours in one afternoon, first the Mangroves (WOW), then Ten thousand Islands. No alligators (Captain Bill said they had moved upstream for ned of freshwater and t..."old us to find them at H.P.Williams boardwalk) but a Very close impression of estuary waters including, unavoidably, a few stings/bites from several of the 150 resident kinds of blood-loving insects.
On the second tour we had close encounters with dolphins swimming in the wake of our boat and managed to spot several island raccoons (thin creatures - no trashbins out there).
Highly recommended.
