While we don't hav..."e a dog I have noticed that there is a dog-washing station to clean your pawed pal at the end of a day romping in the surf, and the beach itself is very clean because the dog owners clean up after themselves well. This is an easy spot for beginning water sports - boogie boarding and light surfing are easy, and depending on the tide there are tide pools that are easy to explore. There is natural seepage of tar here and the level of it comes and goes, so I recommend water shoes. If you do go barefoot, some baby oil wipes do the job of getting the goop off.   "My son and I enjoyed the wharf, but the best part was the aquarium on the pier. The staff was amazing, they gave us great information about the sharks, fish, crabs and urchens. It was great to hear the locals also bring sealife that is found to them for further care and rehab. My son is 16 and we..." were able to spend several hours petting the sharks, urchens (our favorite was the sea hare), plus he was able to drop a net to catch crab or other sea life and a pot to dig through the sand.
