"Tonto Natural Bridge is a must-see if you are in the Payson area. The entry fee is $5.00 per person, and this is not a national park, so the national park pass will not work here. There are different viewing areas from up above the bridge, so even if you are physically unable to hike down under th..."e bridge, you can still see and walk across the bridge. We hiked down to the bottom of the bridge, which was not too difficult, and there are stairs and paths involved. You are allowed to climb the rocks and go under the bridge, so we decided to go ahead and hike under the bridge. I would recommend some good hiking boots to do this (although I did see people doing this in flip-flops). "The Natural Bridge is beautiful. Get ready for a hike. Remember once you go down you have to go up! Today there was a bee warning for outlook 3. So my husband and I just avoided that section. We went down the trail straight to the bridge, hiked under it and came out near section 2. It was not too..." difficult but we did get a little wet. It was a great day 75'. Perfect weather.
They do take credit cards and you will have to park in the front and walk into the gift shop to pay by card.
On our way out we took Houston Mesa Drive off 87 north and ended up at 260. 23+ miles, mostly dirt road but there is a spectacular view of Mogollon Rim.

"What a great place to visit. As a caution I reminded my child not to go to fast down the rocks because it was a little slippery. Well, guess who fell? Yeah, then having to swallow so humble pie and hold onto my child's shoulder while making it back up the rocks. The scenery is well worth the visit. ..."Just be careful and where good shoes while exploring. Yes, we did see bats in the cave all the way at the bottom. Cool stuff!
