"I had planned a trip to Nashville to take my family to see the Grand Ole Opry. while there I wanted to take the oportunity to experience Nashville from the water. I am an experienced kayaker and have only paddled the gulf coast area and mostly salt water. This was an adventure.
We Met Marga..."ret and followed her to a lake on the edge of town. There we unloaded the boards & she took a few minutes to give us a few pointers. This was my sons first SUP experience.
We launched on a rocky shore and paddled in a cove to get familiar with our equipment, before heading out into open waters.
Being a Saturday morning, there were a few fishermen on the water , but all the boats were courteous and kept well away. I'm not sure if they were being nice or if we were just paddling in bad fishing areas.

"When my friends and I were looking for something "different" to try, stand up paddle boarding in Music City was definitely that. We met at the beautiful Percy Priest Lake, and were greeted with a friendly guide and brand new "SUP" gear. Bright boards, adjustable paddles, PFD's, waterproof camera--..."the works. All we had to bring was a signed waiver (though our guide had extras in her car), sunglasses, and a bathing suit layered with clothes that could get wet.
We had a quick 15-minute on-land lesson learning the basics (gear explanations, safety precautions, paddling techniques, etc), but got on the water in no time. The instruction continued for a couple minutes once we were on the lake, but it was more so "tips" as to how to balance and turn better. I was amazed at how easy it was to get up, and also how fast time flew while on the water. It was an awesome workout in the sun, but also so much fun.
