"We took the dolmus from Kalkan, which costs 6 TL pp (£2.50) and takes around 30 mins. The last stop is Patara beach. You have to pay an entrance fee to the national park of 5 TL pp (£2) (or 7.50 TL for a week so worth getting if you plan to go more than once) and free for under-12s. The beach is a l..."ovely wide, mostly unspoilt expanse of sand. You can hire sunbeds & parasols (all 5 TL each - £2) and there are rustic toilets, showers and changing rooms. Only criticism is the toilets were not super clean but this is more due to people putting toilet paper down them, which you can't do in most places in Turkey. "two at the price of one! the little 4 lira fee to gain entrance to both sites is nothing. The ruins are truly fantastic and they say there's so much more that they keep discovering but don't have the founds to do all the works.
The smooth sandy beach is great, too bad that this stretch of coast is a..."lways a bit windy.
Definitely worth a visit...or two!

"We have been coming to Kalkan for 8 years and always visit Patara as it is such a special place. From the 17km of smooth sand and the turquoise sea (like blue silk!), to the fascintaing ruins of the Lycian port, Patara is magical. My husband proposed to me up on the snad-dunes overlooking Patara B..."each, so it has another reason to hold a special place in my heart!
