Erarta brings under one roof Russia's largest private Museum of Contemporary Russian Art (with over 2,000 works in its collection) and one of the branches of its international Galleries (others located in London, New York and Zurich). Erarta building with an overall floor space of 8,600 sqm (currently being expanded to 10,200sqm) opened its doors in September 2010 but has already been nominated for Russia's museum of the year in its first year of existence. The Museum is especially worth visiting for its creativity, not only exhibiting other artists' works but also acting as an author itself with unique projects such as "U-Spaces" (total installations created by the Museum itself to immerse the viewer in a particular world), "Theatre with no actors" (the world's only multi-media play whose cast is made up exclusively of characters from paintings with special audio and video effects bringing them to life), "Art-literature" (accompanying essays of experts and regular visitors' thoughts about particular works of art, helping explain what kind of emotions they trigger in others), "Art-animation" (videos and cartoons transforming a two-dimensional painting into a story prolonged in time). Erarta building also has a restaurant, a cafe and several museum shops offering gifts, prints and books and is open every day (except for Tuesdays) from 10am to 10pm

Skorohod is a multifunctional venue for theatre, music performances, contemporary dance, lectures, films and DJ sets. It proposes an alternative to a traditional repertory theatre. Our repertoire diverse from documentary theatre on out to hip-hop opera. Skorohod is a recently refurbished (out of an ancient foot-factory) space with a seating capacity of around 250. The foyer is served by a fully licensed bar and buffet, where you can enjoy a pre-show drink and live music.

"I was amazed at the beauty of this church. Outside is gorgeous and you can take hundreds of pictures of all angles. It's best on a day with a clear blue sky, however whatever the weather it's impressive.
I would highly highly recommend to get there as soon as it opens. I believe it is 10am in t..."he summer. We were there just after this and the church was relatively quiet. When we exited there were lengthy queues building up and a number of tourist coaches starting to arrive, which could have ruined the serene atmosphere inside.
Once in, the interior of the cathedral is equally as stunning as the exterior. The mosaics and artwork stretch from floor to ceiling. There is not a bland or dull space inside the entire building.
A definite must see when in the city.

"Julia gave us a wonderful one-day tour of the Peterhof and Tsarskoye Selo gardens last weekend... all wonderfully co-ordinated and with her amusing and knowledgeable anecdotes making it a lovely time... even laid on fabulous weather after a dubious start. I can thoroughly recommend her for a short o..."r longer guided and bespoke tour.

"We were on a cruise and called in here, sadly only for a day and a night.
I could spend a month in St Petersburg it is so interesting and there is so much to see.
We were lucky enough to go to a private party viewing of the Hermitage in the evening, when it was closed to others. We also had a co..."ncert by they Conservatoire of St Petersburg play for us, with a glass of champagne. What a treat in those surroundings.
So much wonderful art, far too little time. We must return.
