I rented a car to go there from Kaliningrad. It was February (not the best season to explore the Split, I'd say). The day was damn blowy and gusty winds at the beach literally got inside me notwithstanding my anorak. The sea was covered with hypnotizing rip curls and formidable waves were hitting the shore and even crushing some trekking paths (I saw quite a few in shambles).
Still, I spent a gorgeous day there. Breathtaking panoramas, pristine nature, no tourists and some cozy places to hide from inclement weather.
I had lunch at the excellent Rybniy Dvor/Fischhoff restaurant in Rybachiy (see my separate review), did some shopping at an amber shop near it, crisscrossed the Split as much as I could and finally, in complete darkness, stumbled upon a fox (not sure which of us got frightened more).
Entrance fee is ridiculously low (less than USD 6 including a car) but you must bear in mind that it's a natural park with pretty strict rules - parking only in allocated places, no camping, no deviation from marked paths, etc. And the authorities mean it: fines are significant.
A must see! Try to choose better weather though but avoid the high season - too crowdy.

Yes! In December 1967 local communist authorities asked Moscow for a permission to destroy what was left of the cathedral after 1944 British carpet bombings and build a park and a WWII memorial on that place. Thanks God, they did not get what they wanted - mostly because Kant's tomb was there.
I saw that magnificent construction in May, when trees were in blossom. It stood in all its splendor crowning Kneiphof Isle or Kant Island, as Russians prefer to call it today. Definitely, the cathedral looks much better at a distance since its reconstruction is far from over. The closer one approaches it the better this becomes obvious - windows covered with wooden (plywood?) panels, stained glass missing, walls to still be further renovated, etc. Anyhow, if one compares it with what one could see, say, twenty years ago, the job done looks like a miracle.
There's a concert hall inside with great acoustics and a wonderful organ which professional player performs Show Must Go On from time to time - to die for! (The cathedral is not a place of worship but a cultural and musical center.)
    Not to be missed!

On the same ticket as for the submarine, you can go to the nearby Water Cube pavilion.
It is a square blue glass building. Looking at it, you can understand what 2460 cubic meters of water look like.
On the second floor of the pavilion there is an exhibition hall dedicated to the history of the Russian fleet.
Here you can see flags, dummies of officers in naval uniforms, a collection of officers' caps from the fleets of different countries, as well as watch a short documentary film about the beginning of the era of military submarines.

Diesel-electric submarine B-413 is moored on the embankment of the Pergol River near the Museum of the World Ocean.
It is unique in that it was preserved in its original form and is the only submarine in the country that belongs to the pre-atomic period of the submarine fleet.
Having descended inside the boat, we see everything the same as it was here before the withdrawal of the submarine from the fleet.
You can look into all the cabins and see their interior.
So in the galley there are canned fish, in the radio room - all the equipment and logbooks.
You can sit in the officer's quarters of the company. Having been inside, you understand how hard it was for submariners on long trips to stay in these tiny rooms for a long time.
As you move along the boat, an audio audio guide is turned on, which tells in detail what is around you.
Definitely an interesting excursion, it will be interesting for both adults and children.

Well, I had no idea, that this fort is actually such a peaceful place, with green hills and fluffy bunnies around. Together with that, they make interesting excursions every few hours, so that it is possible to  visit one and then continue wondering around, for instance.
To continue, the fort itself is a brick underground structure that was preserved quite well, with iron details and even furnitured rooms. However, when you go up one of the stairs that can be found in different hidden or not spaces of the fort, you find yourself in a peaceful green yard, infused with lush greneery flavors. In fact, it is possible to make a picnic, especially since there is a cafe that offers even a turkish coffee, it is easy to find it by the mouthwatering flavor. We were very lucky to have a splendid sunny weather during our visit.
Finally, I definately recomnend this place, especially if the weather is sunny, since this place is a true retreat.

I strolled across that newly built area in February. The day was quite unfriendly - grey, windy, humid - and the place looked sort of abandoned from the outside.
They erected it obviously for the 2018 FIFA World Cup tourists. Looks like a nugget in the muck: a nice waterfront neighbouring drab faceless blocks of flats from the communist times.
It is really quite small - half an hour walk, not more. There are cafes and restaurants there, of course, but do not expect anything extraordinary, including seafood. Just simple and overpriced snack bars, sort of bistros, etc. Best places to enjoy your meals (Villa Toscana, Mushkino, Hoffmann, Steindamm 99) are located in other places.
    Nevertheless, recommended.

The grave of the famous German philosopher is adjacent to the cathedral.
It was rebuilt several times and now we can see the 1924 version of the building in a minimalist manner. Straight columns, ascetic.
    An iconic place worth seeing!

Beautiful museum. A lot of nice pieces on display. If you are not interested in amber perhaps you would not like it. Prices of jewellery outside the museum are high.

The Friedland Gate is one of the seven surviving gates of Königsberg.
Inside there is an interesting historical museum where you can see the armor of the Teutonic knights, household items from the Middle Ages and take a virtual walk around Königsberg.
Nearby is a beautiful park with the ruins of two ravelins - Haberberg, of which only one wall remains, and Friedland, which is better preserved.

This museum house is located in an old building built at the beginning of the last century.
Under the roof perched a small sculpture of a gargoyle.
Usually Gargoyles were used in Gothic cathedrals as drains. An interesting format of the museum in the apartment.
