"A couple of things amazed me when I visited the Ataturk House:
1 - Admission was free (unusual in Turkey these days)
2 - I had thought that Ataturk had spent only one night in Alanya back in February 1935, but it turned out that he didn't even stay for that long, arriving in the port at 7.00 am ..."and departing again at 10.30 am. However, Alanya schools still get a day off on 18th February each year to commemorate the auspicious occasion.
The house is interesting to visit, with all displays labelled in English and Turkish. Some of the information is in the form of several pages, not just a quick label, so a lot can be learnt about the Alanya of almost 100 years ago. It's on 2 floors with the rooms mainly set out as rooms would have been then, including some life-like models, and then on the lower of the 2 floors there are a couple of rooms which are more like a museum with exhibits behind glass, mainly Ataturk's personal effects and copies of telegrams relating to the visit in 1...

"During our cruise the ship docked at Alanya Turkey. We spent the whole day touring the resort.
The highlight was this wonderful beach called Cleopatras Beach. Legend has it that she used to bathe there with her servants in attendance. IT was quite windy on our visit so the waves were high but the te..."mprature was a good 18c which was fine for february.
Quite a clean beach for Turkey with no chip paper blowing about like you know where.
The resort itself has a lot to offer that is why there is a big German clientele.
I would recommend Alanya has a holiday resort in particular & Antalya in general.
Prices were reasonable all round & the people were friendly, don't be shy give it a try.

"The beach was very clean. There are many sun loungers along the beach to hire for the day. The beach is very long and the sea is blue.
Can't wait to return soon."
