This is the first purpose built information and research centre in Sri Lanka, and aims to educate and create awareness of these magnificent creatures. At present, 28 species of cetaceans (whales and dolphins) have been recorded in Sri Lankan waters and sightings from Mirissa alone include Brydes Whale, Blue Whale, Pilot Whale, Orca, different types of Dolphins, however very little is still understood about their behavior or why they are seen in these waters.

"Orchid House is a real gem of a shop set in Hospital Street, Galle Fort. It is run by Yameen who has fantastic knowledge of gems and jewellery. This is represented by his wonderful display of silver jewellery set with semi-precious stones as well as the stunning commissions he can help you to design...".
Apart from jewellery, the shop holds a huge range of unique Sri Lankan products - everything from chic linen clothes, to interior/homeware items, spices and tea.
Walking around the cool interiors is a pleasure and this is a well-stocked and friendly place to shop for gifts to take home.

"it will be good to enjoy seeing the sunset at the Galle fort.
take more photo and be relax.
walk around the fort you will be able to get to know the history of Galle better."
"Stayed in a hotel within the fort for 2 nights.
Fort itself is beautiful. Walking around high walled ramparts and dawn or dusk offers beautiful views out to the Indian Ocean. It takes about an hour in total.
The interior of the fort is like a small town. House, small shops, restaurant and b..."ars line narrow streets. The architecture of the buildings is a real sight, the Dutch and Colonial English influences are everywhere.
Currently an influx of money means there's lots of building renovation with new bars/shops opening every month.
Definitely a great place to spend a day or two.
