"Of all the Inca Cities, Winawayna is the most impressive after Machu Picchu. There must be 15 Inca Cities on the Four Day Inca Trail, but they are smaller and not as impressive. I think that when in Inca Trail, in some ways, Winawayna rewards you more than the actual Machu Picchu Citadel. This ..."is because you are working your way to Winawayna all along and that is the first big Inca City you get to see where you will find nobody besides yourself and the birds.

"My wife and I went to Machu Picchu in March and it was a dream come true. This Inca site is amazing and the surrounding mountains and valleys are breathtaking. We took a tour through International Expeditions and we were completely satisfied. The hotels that they use and our guides were excellent...". Also International Expeditions provides 2 days at Machu Picchu which gives plenty of time to explore the site and some "insurance" if you get bad weather on one day. We arrived about noon on the first day and spent all afternoon (up until the site closed) at Machu Picchu. It was very nice because the afternoon light and lower numbers of people gave us many opportunities for great pictures. During our second day we visited parts of the site we did not see on the first day and we got to see everything in the morning light.

Well, the climb was not easy for me especially when I am an elderly Asian who has not be..."en exercising. I didn't think I would have the stamina to climb it.
The climb up was indeed very tiring for me even though I had a walking stick for support as I had to climb the stone steps which are of various heights. Many times, I had to hold on to the side of the cliff for support.
The way down was not easy for me either as my legs had gone soft after the climb up. Luckily, we engaged a guide for the climb. He helped me along the way. On the way down, he helped to carry my backpack and held my hand to help me walking gingerly down the steps. I am appreciative of his service. (Guide was arranged by Mr Raul Corahua of Royal Crown Adventures)
Was the climb worth it? Person...
