This museum honors POWs who endured the Japanese occupation of Singapore in World War II. Their stories are told with an impressive collection of personal artifacts and news coverage. A British internee returned to the museum decades after the war to recreate the murals he’d painted on the walls of the original chapel – a moving insight into how those held prisoner found hope and comfort in any way possible.

A short trip from the city center lies the serenity of MacRitchie Reservoir, part of Singapore’s water catchment system that captures rain water to help supply the island’s growing population. Trails surround the park, which has an upgraded visitor’s center featuring a café, restrooms and information station. The best views are from the TreeTop Walk, a 250-meter suspension bridge across the rainforest canopy, which can be accessed along the seven-kilometer Venus Loop. Wear hiking shoes and bring water.

"We chose to break our journey to London at Singapore just to see the Gardens by the Bay which we saw on Better Homes and Gardens, thank you BHaG. We made our way there via the River Taxis which is a lovely way to get there, so peaceful and pleasant, Once there we had a little trouble finding the wa..."y to the Gardens but once we worked it out, we found the gardens to be lovely. During the day they are an interesting way to spend an afternoon. But we returned a few days later, later in the day and watched the sound and light show on the water front before going to the gardens in the dark also we had dinner at the Gardens by the Bay Tree Restaurant. By night the gardens are stunning, there is no other word to describe them, Stunning!!! The 'trees' at night are the most magnificent sight. The restaurant was to us expensive and a bit overpriced for what you got. My Husband's meal was delicious, mine was over cooked, a bad mistake for something that is costing you as much as it did. "Make sure you have comfy shoes and water but the scenery and interesting things on the way is worth the walk. There are some parts that could do with a bit more sign posting and not really any food available on the way until you end up in Vivo City shopping centre. Also, as I had previously read on ..."TA, the taxi driver was confused from the MRT station about the walk start location. I think it best to ask for the top of Pepys Road. Also after all the Monkey warning signs, we were a bit disappointed not to see/photograph any.

"Good place to visit on what our Aussie POW's went through 1942-45. I visit it every time I go to Singapore just to reflect. The museum is free entry and the audio tour is $8-10. All proceeds go to the museum/chapel. This is 1 place you have to go on your Singapore trip if you are a Australian."
