"The Big Island has a lot of great beaches. Each one is unique and worth a visit. Beach 69 is a nice beach in that it can offer a lot of amenities. IMO Beach 69 is not the best beach in any one category, but is near the top in many categories. Great for snorkeling, nice shading spots to escape fro..."m the sun when needed. Rockier than Hapuna, but still pretty sandy.

"Again, we are spoiled about beaches but Hapuna was a fun spot to boogie board, the waves can be a bit much for smaller children. I'd head to Mauna Kea if you have little kids.
Quite a lot of people here and we went on a Thursday."
"We've been wanting to find a sandy beach to play in the waves for a short time and Hapuna Beach was just the spot. Even the $5 fee was well worth it. The beach is well maintained and has restrooms, picnic areas and plenty of sand and sun (wear plenty of sunblock). There are outdoor showers to rinse ..."off before headed home and a snack shop for cold drinks and plenty of restrooms (even if some are portable toilets for crowed days).
