Owner description:
The Manzù Collection at Ardea on via Laurentina, km 32, is one of the four museums connected to the National Gallery of Modern Art of Rome. Inaugurated on May 22, 1969 and donated to the Italian State ten years later, the collection has been open to the public since 1981 and is the burial site of the artist himself (Bergamo 1908 - Ardea 1991).The Collection contains over eighty pieces, including sculptures, models and medallions, almost all in bronze and realized by Manzù between 1927 and 1984. Additionally there are about three hundred and thirty designs, incisions and sketches of theatrical costumes executed between 1940 and 1980.Of particular interest is the Collection Archive consisting of printed documents dating from 1930 to 2000.
