  "We got to the cable car at 10 am and for only 8 euro each we able to park and take the cable car up to Montserrat - great photo opportunity. We attended the 11am Mass with the Benedictine monks which was very spiritual and then stayed in the Abbey to hear a surprise choir from Georgia followed by..." the boys choir which was worth waiting for. After that we hiked to the top of the mountain - over 2 hrs but amazing views and a challenging hike. Came down a different way which took almost two hours but we to some wonderful photographs. Cable car back to the car after a most enjoyable day. A must see if you go to the Barcelona area. " More >

You need to allow a whole day for the travel and the queues for the funicular/cable cars and also to take some of the walks at the top and enjoy the stunning views. It is busy-there wil be a lot of people on a small rock! Beware; the train to and from Barc..."elona goes once an hour and has only 3 carriages and is also a commuter train. If you don't get to the station well in advance you will be standing for the hour long trip - I was squashed inbetween a bike and a cello for the trip out! The all inclusive travel ticket that you can buy for the train, cable car and funicular is very good value but if there is another way of getting to Montserrat rather than use the commuter train- epsecially during peak season, then go for it!
