This Roman Aqueduct, a symbol of the city of Segovia, was built in 50BC. It carried water from the Río Frío until the 1970's. The large granite stones fit closely together without mortar.

What a beautiful place to visit. We went during the book fair - stalls were set up across the square. The architecture is beautiful and the roads that lead off the Plaza all lead to interesting places to visit and see. So much to see in Salamanca. Loads of restaurants in the Plaza and also just off the Plaza in the side roads

Catedral de Santa Maria is located in the Plaza de Santa Maria. Built in the 1200's, it is the burial site of the military hero, El Cod

This is a well maintained and beautiful castle worth spending at least a couple of hours exploring and learning a bit of its history.

This wall is probably the only attraction and reason to visit Ávila.

The views from the walls are amazing but unfortunately, we had joined a day tour and the guide rushed us through. We only walked a very small section of the wall but we still managed to take some very cool photos.

Not really worth a full day trip to Avila unless you do it together with Segovia.

Wow! What an incredible place! The cathedral is breathtaking and the free audio guide for adults and children makes this a really special experience.

Our 10yr & 5yr old were enthralled by the children’s guide. It was perfectly timed with the adult guide so we all moved around the cathedral together. My husband and I actually got to enjoy a complete tour uninterrupted for the first time in years! 😂💪

Just download the guides onto your phone using the QR code. Note you’ll need at least two phones - one for adults and one for kids.

So I'd heard that Toledo has an amazing cathedral, but we haven't been there yet.

But who needs Toledo when you have Segovia, so much more than a cathedral and for just a small entrance fee (I think it was about 4 Euros per adult from memory).

This is a beautiful cathedral, and along with the Alcazar and Aqueduct, dominates the Segovia landscape. If impressive from the outside (and it looks very different from various sides) with somewhat Arabic as well as Gothic influences, wait until you go inside!

There are so many chapels as you walk around the cathedral (over 20 from memory), which are each dedicated to different saints, and most have some priceless artefects, altars, paintings, sculptures, just incredible. And the sheer scale of the cathedral is huge, as is the organ. You can't help but feel small when staring up to the top of the cathedral and be in awe of its splendour and architecture, it is grandiose, and frankly would be impressive enough to be in Madrid or Barcelona.

Highly recommended, and you probably only need an hour or just over to take it all in.

ps - for spectacular views of this cathedral & the city as a whole, go to somewhere like the Parador de Segovia hotel and take some epic photos :-)

We did a wonderful walking tour of the city, catching many sites starting at the market and through the oldest part of the historic town. There is so much to see, with wonderful old buildings, lovely restaurants and great atmosphere. The old and "new" cathedral are particularly worth a stop.
We will remember our visit each Christmas as we put up the decoration souvenir we picked up.

My ticket was €10 and included both cathedrals (old and new) and the Bishop's Palace. The cathedrals are obviously worth seeing. The audioguide was interesting, but you wouldn't miss out on much if you didn't fancy listening to it. It's free with entry. After the cathedrals, I went to the Bishop's Palace, which has a couple of floors of religious art. Not my thing, so I zoomed around. In the final room, there a dozen or so VR headsets. You sit down, select your language, and put the headset on. It takes you on a magnificent, if not frightening, tour of both cathedrals. It is incredible. If you don't like heights, don't do it. This would be the highlight for kids.

Beautifully restored, this is a special place where time stops. The visit is well organised and sends you back to late Middle Age. I was particularly impressed by the equilibrium between simplicity of the monks and the sophistication of the art exposed.

It is free to enter, but if you want access to the Pantheon of the Kings of Leon you have to pay. It also house the Chalice of Doña Urraca, and access to the top of the Roman walls.
