  "Els Calderers is in the village of Sant Joan and most certainly worth a visit. It dates from around 1750 and the house is full of fascinating Mallorcan furniture, paintings and curios. The house and estate let you see how people lived at that time. There is a beautiful Chapel in the house. The cel..."lars are huge...and you can sample wine from a large barrel!. Many rooms to see...drawing room and dinning room. A music room. Bed rooms and dressing room. The hunting room which is full of trophies. And more! The gardens and grounds lovely to walk in. Pigs are kept in pens nearby. Horses in the paddock and turkeys, ducks and chickens in a field. Really enjoyed our visit. One thing we didn't like and that was to see dogs chained up outside their stone built kennels. Having said that they seemed friendly enough!.   "A great deal of effort has been put in to update facilities since our last visit. Grounds have been re-paved, house re-decorated and new toilets installed. We found Els Calderos very interesting and historically informative the second time around .It is not as commercialised as other venues on Ma..."llorca but retains rustic charm and authenticity. The hunting room, chapel, dining room and cellars were excellent.As was the whole experience Sadly the wine tasting was not in evidence when we were there but there were some local foods to taste. We did try the coffee- hot, drinkable but not first class. One lady was doing all the work. She sold the admission tickets, directed us where to go and served the drinks and snacks. We saw no-one else apart from a few other visitors. It was out of season but an excellent day out. . " More >
